Places to Go: Huntington Gardens

Besides the recent Easter holiday & Koman walk, I've not taken Hugo out for a full-day's outing. This weekend, however, changed that and together we got lots of fresh air.

Saturday found me at the Huntington Gardens (thanks, Sara!), together with Denise & Matt. It was a perfect, slightly overcast day that was bright enough to give great light without being too cold or warm. By the end of the day I had almost 500 images to weed through. Of those I kept around 175 with a few dozen that I am particularly pleased with. Unlike Denise, I'm not sure I can choose just two ultimate favorites but for the sake of this post, I'll do my best to give you a handful of favorites in three different categories: Nature, People & Statuary.

Nature

People

Statuary

Macro

In anticipation of two outings this weekend (stay tuned!) on my list of places to go/things to do, I borrowed a macro lens. I'm not quite sure how it works so these are first my point, focus & shoot attempts. While not a daily lens, it certainly has it's uses.

Mellow Yellow

After driving by the most vibrant and beautiful yellow tree on Santa Anita several times, I finally stopped for a closer look. It's beauty did not disappoint in person.

Pasadena Memorial Park Neighborhood

To help me better understand Hugo, I set up a tutorial time for yesterday afternoon with a D80 "pro" from Samy's Camera. Well, he missed our appointment but I took the opportunity to walk around the neighborhood to see what I could see.

A Sunday Drive

Yesterday I headed out to the "country" that is Bradbury. Fields of flowers, horses and sweaping views of the city were spied.

I can't decide whether I like the color or sepia versions of this set. Something about the concept of a "Sunday Drive" lends itself to vintage, but I love the natural colors. How about you vote?
